to see my name in lights
or on a list of
well-known
artists of my time.
Fame is not the ends
to my means
of wordcraft;
my purpose is
but to tell
the story
which has chosen me,
of all vessels,
to tell it
to the world.
I don't ever want
to see my name in lights--
for fame ruins art
and art
is what I live to do.
